• Carolina lost for the first time this season.
• The Tar Heels set season lows in points (58), field goal shooting (38.2%), field goals (21), three-pointers (4), 3FG shooting (17.4%), rebounds (30) and assists (9).
• Michigan State shot 51.7% from the floor, the highest percentage against UNC this season. The Tar Heels are 6-16 in five seasons under head coach Hubert Davis when an opponent shoots 50% or better.
• The Spartans scored 46 points in the paint, the most by an opponent since Michigan State scored 50 in Maui last November.
• Caleb Wilson led three Tar Heels in double figures with 18 points, his seventh-straight game in double figures and the fifth time he led Carolina in scoring.
• Henri Veesaar (13) and Luka Bogavac (11) also scored in double figures. It was the first time this season fewer than four Tar Heels scored in double figures.
• Bogavac matched his season high with five assists, the third time this season he had five.
• Jonathan Powell had a season-high seven rebounds.
• The Tar Heels led 22-15 with 7:13 to play in the first half when Veeesaar picked up his second foul and went out of the game. The Spartans closed the half on a 18-6 run to lead by five at the break.
• It was the second time this season UNC trailed at the half (also in the win over Kansas).
• Carolina's 28 points in the first half were its fewest in a half this season (previous 29 in first half against Kansas).
• Carolina's four three-pointers were its fewest since making three in the ACC Tournament semifinal loss to Duke last season.
• The Tar Heels were outrebounded (30-37) for the first time this season.
• UNC's 58 points were its fewest since beating Virignia, 54-44, in Charlottesville in 2024.
