Hampton Named To AVCA 2025 Player Of The Year Watch List

LEXINGTON, KY – Safi Hampton has been named to the AVCA 2025 Player of the Year Watch List, the ACVA announced Friday afternoon. The Watch List was compiled by the AVCA Division I Women's Volleyball Awards Committee.

Hampton's stellar start to the 2025 campaign has been highlighted by her consistency. She leads the team with 161 kills, 3.74 kills per set, 172.5 points, and 4.01 points per set. In every match she's played more than one set in she's had at lead 11 kills. The junior has five games of hitting .407 or better. In ACC play so far, she's hitting .358 with 4.30 kills per set and 43 kills overall.

On Wednesday night she had 12 kills and only one error to guide the Tar Heels to a sweep of their rivals, Duke.

A goal the 2025 UNC team has is to win the state of North Carolina, and through five games against in-state opponents, Safi Hampton has been up for the occasion. She leads the team with 76 kills with a .347 hitting percentage and 4.22 kills per set to lead UNC to a perfect 5-0 record with one in-state matchup remaining.
