COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Field Hockey U-21 Women's National Team head coach Ange Bradley included Carolina stars Reese Anetsberger and Dani Mendez in her initial 18-athlete roster for the 2025 FIH Hockey Women's Junior World Cup.
Anetsberger and Mendez earned nods to the main roster for the tournament held in Santiago, Chile starting on December 1, 2025. Sophomore defender Hope Haynes will be one of two traveling reserves for the squad while freshman goalkeeper Merritt Skubisz was named one of the three standby athletes.
Mendez helped the term secure qualification by finishing second at the 2024 Junior Pan Am Championship. She is also one of four members of the squad who competed at the 2023 Junior World Cup. Head coach of the USWNT David Passmore kept senior forward Ryleigh Heck from consideration for this roster.
The No. 6 U-21 USWNT kicks off JWC competition in Pool F on Monday, December 1 with an opening match against No. 13 New Zealand. They then face No. 10 Korea on Wednesday, December 3, and conclude pool play on Friday, December 5 against No. 22 Uruguay. Crossovers begin on Sunday, December 7.
