No. 19 Wrestling Controls Duke, 40-3

DURHAM, N.C. – Nine North Carolina wrestlers were victorious, as the 19th-ranked Tar Heels defeated Duke, 40-3, in Atlantic Coast Conference action.
The win for the Tar Heels is the ninth-straight win over the Blue Devils, and the 24th consecutive win for Carolina in Durham, dating back to 1973. Additionally, the Tar Heels have won 48 of the last 50 duals against Duke.
Carolina began the night with three-straight decisions, jumping out to a 9-0 lead over Duke. Freshman Cameron Stinson Jr. (125) earned his first collegiate dual win (8-1 decision), and ranked wrestlers No. 13 Ethan Oakley (2-0 decision) and No. 24 Jayden Scott (9-2 decision), picked up wins for the Tar Heels.
The Tar Heels followed with six-straight bonus-point victories, beginning with fifth-ranked Lachlan McNeil's first-period fall over Eli Murray and No. 19 Sonny Santiago collecting the 20-3 technical fall.
Making his first dual start of the season at 165 pounds, Omaury Alvarez cruised to a 17-4 major decision, with the Tar Heels earning their second fall of the night at 174 pounds courtesy of 18th-ranked Joshua Ogunsanya.
Carolina closed the wins on the night with back-to-back 20-4 technical falls from No. 24 Gavin Kane (184) and Cade Lautt (197).
