CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Sixth-ranked NC State defeated 18th-ranked North Carolina , 19-16, Friday night in a highly-contested Atlantic Coast Conference dual.

Five Tar Heels were victorious on the night: Ethan Oakley (133), Jayden Scott (141), Lachlan McNeil (149), Joshua Ogunsanya (174) and Cade Lautt (197).

Beginning at 133 pounds, with the match tied at one-all heading into sudden victory, NC State's 12th-ranked Kai Orine was given his second stall call of the match, awarding Oakley a point and the victory, 2-1.

At 141 pounds, Scott jumped out to an early lead courtesy of two takedowns and never looked back, claiming the 8-4 decision over Tyler Tracy.

Carolina's fifth-ranked McNeil also utilized a fast first-period lead in his showdown with No. 21 Koy Buesgens, collecting a takedown and four near-fall points in the opening three minutes, earning the 11-2 major decision.

At 174 pounds, Ogunsanya collected a four-point second period, with an escape and takedown, helping clinch his 5-4 decision over No. 20 Matty Singleton.

Rounding out the Tar Heel wins at 197, Cade Lautt earned the ranked-win over No. 26 Christian Knop, 5-1, his first ranked victory of the campaign.

Up next, the Tar Heels travel to Pitt on Friday night at 7 PM. Action from Fitzgerald Field House begins at 7 PM, with the match airing on ACC Network.
