CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Senior Parker Wolfe notched his first accolade of the season when the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association named him Men's National Athlete of the Week on Monday, Sept. 30.
Today marks the senior's second time winning the weekly cross-country national award; the first time occurred last year when he won the ACC Championships.
Last Friday, Wolfe set a new course record of 23:04.0 at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational Presented by Under Armour in his season debut.
Wolfe's win propelled the men's team to its best finish ever at Nuttycombe–fourth. The men leaped into the top five, a major improvement from last year's 10th-place finish at Nuttycombe.
Parker is the second Carolina runner to earn national honors this season, after Brynn Brown won on Sept. 16.
