Wright's Impressive Week Ends In Tulsa

TULSA, OKLA.— Redshirt freshman Anthony Wright saw his impressive run in the ITA All-American Championships come to an end in the singles main draw consolation draw round of 32 on Friday.
Baylor's Zsombor Velcz, ranked #49 nationally, came from behind to beat Wright in three sets, 6-7 (2), 6-2, 6-2 on Friday.
Making his Tar Heel debut after sitting out the 2023-24 season as a redshirt, Wright won six matches in six days in Tulsa to move from the pre-qualifying draw to the main draw this week.
On Thursday, Wright defeated #72 Aristotelis Thanos of Michigan State, 4-1 (injury retired).
