Softball Drops Game Two At FSU, 11-3

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The North Carolina softball team dropped game two against No. 16 Florida State on Saturday afternoon, 11-3, in six innings at the Seminole Softball Complex. With the win, the Seminoles clinched the weekend series over the Tar Heels.

Alex Coleman and Sanaa Thompson highlighted the Carolina offense with a pair of hits from each and combining for all three Tar Heel RBIs. Thompson tallied her second career triple, missing a home run by just inches, plating a pair of runs in the top of the first.

Coleman's two hits brought her season total to 70, becoming the first Tar Heel with 70 hits since Dionne Streete in 2004.Â

Carolina used five pitchers in the loss: Talia Hannappel, Carlie Myrtle, Britton Rogers, Janelle Wilson and Bailey McCachren. Carlie Myrtle (1-1) suffered her first loss of the season, giving up two runs in 1.1 innings and a pair of walks.Â

The Tar Heel will close out the series tomorrow at 12 p.m. on ACCNX.
