Softball Edged Out By FSU In Series Finale, 2-1

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Despite Kenna Raye Dark throwing a gem in the circle, the North Carolina softball team dropped its series finale at No. 16 Florida State, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon at the Seminole Softball Complex.

The Tar Heels outhit the Seminoles 10-4 in the loss, with Florida State scoring both of their runs on Carolina fielding errors.Â
Â
Dark (8-6) went the distance, throwing her 11th complete game of the season, allowing just four hits, one earned run, a walk and recording four strikeouts.Â

Eight different Tar Heels recorded a hit in the game, with Sanaa Thompson and Carlie Myrtle leading Carolina at the plate with a pair of hits each. Thompson was the only Tar Heel with an extra base hit, tallying a double in the seventh. Â

Destiny Middleton had the sole Tar Heel RBI of the game, making it a one-run game with two outs in the top of the seventh.Â

Skyler Brooks swiped two bases, bringing her career total to 55. She now ranks ninth in program history in stolen bases, passing Breanna Brown (54) who played from 2006-2009.Â
