CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Carolina softball team (23-9, 5-6 ACC) dropped game two of its three-game series with Notre Dame (21-11, 6-5 ACC) on Saturday afternoon, 10-5, in Anderson Stadium. With the loss, the series is now tied at one game apiece.

Carolina struggled in the circle in the game, giving up a combined nine earned runs between three pitchers.

Senior left-hander Bailey McCachren, who started the game, went three innings, allowing three walks, a pair of earned runs and recording one strikeout.

Redshirt junior Britton Rogers (8-3) was charged the loss, giving up four earned runs and a pair of walks in 1.1 innings.

Senior Talia Hannappel pitched 2.2 of relief, giving up four runs, three earned, with a strikeout.

At the plate, the Tar Heels tallied eight hits as a team, including two hits from each juniors Alex Coleman and Carlie Myrtle and redshirt sophomore Isabela Emerling.

Emerling also had the sole Carolina home run, a two-out, two-run shot in the bottom of the seventh.

NOTABLES:

With a team-best three RBIs in the game, redshirt sophomore Isabela Emerling has 42 RBIs on the season, the most by a Tar Heel in a single-season since Kendra Lynch (68) in 2017. Emerling leads the team with 10 multi-RBI games and 11 home runs
After tallying a pair of hits on the day, junior Alex Coleman has now recorded a team-best 14 multi-hit games and has 53 hits on the season, leading Sanaa Thompson, who has the second-most hits (38) by 15
Junior Carlie Myrtle has hit a team-best .800 against the Fighting Irish in two games, going 4-of-5 at the plate with two runs and an RBI

The Tar Heels will look to clinch the series on Saturday at 12 p.m.
