Kovacs Garners All-America Honors At 2024 NCAA Fencing Championships

COLUMBUS, OHIO – North Carolina fencing redshirt junior Sophia Kovacs earned All-America honors at the 2024 NCAA Fencing Championships, finishing in tenth place in women's sabre. This is the second year in a row she has garnered All-America honors.
Kovacs entered the second day of competition in seventh place after earning nine victories on day one. She finished the championship with 13 victories.
On the men's side, sophomore Elden Wood placed 17th in men's sabre, wrapping up the NCAA Championships with nine total victories in two days of competition.
The Tar Heels finished the NCAA Championships ranked No. 21 in the team standings.
Carolina is off until April 25 when the team travels to Salt Lake City, Utah, for the April NAC.
