Multiple Tar Heels Qualify For Saturday's ACC Indoor Championship Finals

BOSTON, MASS. – After the second day of competition at the 2024 ACC Indoor Championships, members of the University of North Carolina men's and women's indoor track and field teams saw multiple qualifiers for Saturday's final races and field events.Â
As a team, Carolina has tallied 39 points and is in second place entering the final day of competition.
Below is a breakdown of events and the athlete(s) competing in the event(s).
The third and final day of the ACC Championships will begin tomorrow at 11:00 a.m.
Friday - Day Two
Men's Heptathlon 60 meter huddle - Sam Corley, Bryce Kazmaier, Max Stakun-Pickering, Issac Young
Men's Mile (Prelims) -Â Ethan Strand, Parker Wolfe, Aiden Neal, Joe Sapone

Friday - Day Two
Men's Heptathlon 60 meter huddle - Sam Corley, Bryce Kazmaier, Max Stakun-Pickering, Issac Young
- To begin the second day of heptathlon competition, Max Stakun-Pickering set a new personal best and placed third in the 60mH with a time of 8.19 seconds. Bryce Kazmaier, Sam Corley and Isaac Young finished eighth, ninth and tenth.
- All four Tar Heels set new personal bests in the heptathlon pole vault. Stakun-Pickering, Young and Corley each cleared 15-3.75 feet, while Kazmaier cleared 14-8 feet.Â
- Entering the final heptathlon event, Stakun-Pickering was in third place (4,059 points), Corley was in fifth (4,021 points), Young (3,669 points) and Kazmaier (3,639 points) were in eleventh and twelfth.
- In the final event of the heptathlon, three Tar Heels finished in the top ten. Max Stakun-Pickering finished in second place (2:41.75), Corley finished in fifth (2:45.88), Young finished tenth (2:53.91) and Kazmaier finished in eleventh (2:55.58).
Men's Mile (Prelims) -Â Ethan Strand, Parker Wolfe, Aiden Neal, Joe Sapone
- In the prelims, Parker Wolfe, Ethan Strand and Aiden Neal each qualified for tomorrow's men's mile final.
- Wolfe finished first, Strand finished second and Neal finished eighth.
- In the prelim, Parks finished in sixth place with a time of 4:42.61 to qualify for the women's mile final.
- Atkinson finished in second place with a personal best time of 7.86 seconds to qualify for the 60mH final.
- Berry finished in fourth place with a personal best time of 8.30 seconds to qualify for the 60mH final.
- Saddler II set a new personal best time of 47.56 to finish 12th.
- Martins set a new personal best time of 54.96 to finish in 15th.
- Kyle Reinhiemer and Andrew Regnier both qualified for the Men's 800m final on Saturday.Â
- Reinheimer finished with a time of 1:49.40 while Regnier finished with a time of 1:49.80.
- Makayla Paige qualified for the 800m final with a time of 2:05.11.
