Softball Hosts UNCG Wednesday In Home Opener

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The North Carolina softball team (5-1) opens play at Anderson Stadium on Wednesday with a 4 p.m. in-state matchup with UNCG (5-7). It will be head coach Megan Smith Lyon's first time coaching at Anderson Stadium as the Tar Heels' leader.
Carolina is coming off a 1-1 weekend at the Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational, with the last three games of the tournament canceled due to rain. The Tar Heels split their two games, falling to No. 18 Kentucky, 12-10, and defeating UCF, 2-1.
Wednesday's matchup will air on ACCNX with Matt Krause on the call. Admission is free for those attending in person.

Up next, the Tar Heels will host the Carolina Classic, welcoming Lipscomb, George Washington and Mount St. Mary's to Chapel Hill for a combined 10 games.
