Wiltrout Resets School Record In Outdoor Season Opener

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Madison Wiltrout reset her own school record in the women's javelin as North Carolina opened the outdoor track & field season on Friday and Saturday at the Bob Davidson Invitational, hosted by High Point University at Dick Vert Stadium.
On Friday, Wiltrout's first throw of the day – and of the outdoor season – bettered the school record she already owned with a distance of 184-1 (56.12m). Roman Mitchell won the men's javelin with a throw of 232-9 (70.94m) and Tom Watson placed third at 226-0 (68.88m), both with PRs.
UNC's James Joycey won the men's hammer with a PR of 225-9 (68.81), the second-longest distance in school history.
In the men's pole vault, Ben Finger took second and led four Tar Heels in the top nine with a height of 5.05m (16-6.75).
Next up the Tar Heels will make a short trip to NC State for the Raleigh Relays Thursday through Saturday. For the full schedule, click here.
