Women's Golf Ready For Darius Rucker Intercollegiate

Tar Heels Paired with No. 10 Arkansas and Kentucky in Rd 1
The North Carolina women's golf team begins play Monday in the 10th Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at the Long Cove Club in Hilton Head Island, S.C.
Golf Channel will have live television coverage Monday through Wednesday from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.
The Tar Heels are paired with 10th-ranked Arkansas and Kentucky in Monday's opening round. The Razorbacks are one of 10 teams in the event that Golfstat ranks in the top 25 in the nation.
The field also includes No. 4 South Carolina, No. 5 Wake Forest, No. 8 Alabama, No. 11 Texas, No. 13 Arizona State, No. 17 LSU, No. 18 Auburn, No. 21 Baylor, No. 22 Duke, Furman, Georgia, Louisville, Northwestern and Vanderbilt.
Carolina's lineup includes junior Kayla Smith, freshman Stephany Kim, junior Krista Junkkari, sophomore Crista Izuzquiza and sophomore Nicole Adam.
Smith and Junkkari both shot 69 in the third round of the Moon Golf Invitational last week in Melbourne, Fla.
Smith led UNC with a 17th place finish at 1-over-par 217.
The Tar Heels played their best round of the season on February 22 in the final round in Melbourne, shooting 7-under 281. That result tied the sixth-best round in Tar Heel history. In addition to Smith and Junkkari's 3-under 69s, Adam shot 71, her best round of the season, and Kim was even par for a season-best 72.
Carolina's 281 finish in the final round equaled the second-best team score of the entire tournament. Alabama shot 9 under in round three and Florida State, which won the team title, also shot a 281.
The Darius Rucker Intercollegiate is Carolina's sixth event of the season. The Tar Heels' best finish was a tie for fifth at the Cougar Classic in Charleston, S.C., in September.
