ACC Fencing Championships Coming This Weekend

DURHAM, N.C. - The North Carolina fencing team will compete in the ACC Fencing Championships this weekend inside Cameron Indoor Stadium. The individual fencing championships will take place on Saturday, with the team competition following on Sunday. The ACC Network and ACC Network Extra will provide coverage of the event.
The Tar Heels will be joined by Boston College, Duke, and Notre Dame as the four teams looking to take home the ACC Championship. Duke will enter this weekend looking to defend both its 2021 men's and women's titles. The Blue Devils will see tough competition this year from the other ranked programs looking to get their hands on the ACC crown.
Notre Dame enters the weekend as the favorites to sweep the team championships. Notre Dame currently sits No. 1 on the men's side and No. 2 for the women according to the US Fencing Coaches Poll. Both UNC and Duke also boast programs ranked in the top 15, promising to put pressure on Notre Dame.

Ranked No. 9 by the USFCA and coming off quality performances at the Duke Duals and Northwestern Duals, the Tar Heels will look to upset the top ranked Fighting Irish and No. 6 Duke on their way to the title.
The women's team will look to capture their first ACC team championship since 2018. Sitting at No. 14 in the USFCA poll, the women will look to get past No. 2 Notre Dame, No. 13 Duke, and a tough Boston College team.
