Softball Falls Short to No. 4 Alabama
February 27, 2021 | Softball
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – On day two of the Crimson Classic, North Carolina dropped a pair of games vs. No. 4 Alabama on Saturday afternoon in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Due to lights-out pitching by Lexi Kilfoyl, the Tar Heels managed a pair of base runners and two stolen bases in the 2-0 no hitter. Both Kristina Burkhardt and Aneshia Jordan managed a stolen base, but the Crimson Tide's pair of runs by the second inning was enough for the win in game one.
Brittany Pickett hit leadoff single in the seventh inning of game two, but wasn't enough to spark a comeback as Alabama claimed 4-0 win on unearned runs. Burkhardt doubled in the first, but the Tar Heels left four on base throughout the game as Alabama's Montana Fouts struck out 12.
Tallying two hits on the day, Carolina swiped three bases in the doubleheader. Carolina falls to 5-4 while Alabama improves to 13-0.
