No. 8 UNC visits No. 3 N.C. State Friday For Key ACC Rivalry Match

No. 8 North Carolina (11-1, 2-0 ACC) travels to Raleigh on Friday night to visit No. 3 N.C. State (12-0, 2-0) at Reynolds Coliseum. This weekend's dual marks the first time in series history that the Tar Heels and Wolfpack are both ranked inside the top 10 when meeting. The match will be streamed on ACC Network Extra at 7:00 p.m.

Last weekend, the Tar Heels knocked off Duke (44-3) and Bucknell (25-9) at home in Carmichael Arena. UNC won seven bouts with bonus points against the Blue Devils, while taking eight of ten bouts against Bucknell to improve its season record to 11-1.

Four Tar Heels are included in this week's Intermat rankings: No. 3 Austin O'Connor (149), No. 10 Zach Sherman (141), No. 15 A.C. Headlee (157) and No. 16 Kennedy Monday (165). With two more wins last weekend, Sherman moved his season record to 22-3. Those 22 wins lead the team, and his No. 10 ranking is the highest of his career.

N.C. State remains perfect on the season after defeating No. 10 Pittsburgh, 21-12, on Saturday. The team enters this Friday's meeting with six ranked wrestlers across the lineup: No. 2 Hayden Hidlay (157), No. 3 Trent Hidlay (184), No. 10 Thomas Bullard (165), No. 11 Tariq Wilson (141), No. 18 Daniel Bullard (174) and No. 20 Nick Reenan (197).

The Wolfpack has won the last six meetings in this rivalry series. The last time UNC earned a win over N.C. State was on Feb. 1, 2012, a 30-6 victory in Chapel Hill.
