Tar Heels Defeat Coastal Carolina For Fourth-Straight Shutout

CHAPEL HILL – North Carolina continued to dominate at Anderson Stadium as the Tar Heels picked up their fourth-consecutive run-rule shutout with a 9-0 victory over Coastal Carolina on Tuesday.

The Tar Heels picked up right where they left off scoring nine runs in the first three innings to cruise to another shutout victory. Both Brittany Pickett and Kristina Burkhardt homered in the first and second innings, respectively. Campbell Hutcherson drove in three of UNC's nine runs.

Carolina looks to extend its winning streak to five games on Wednesday, hosting Liberty. With the win, UNC improves to 23-13 and the Chanticleers drop to 29-11.

» In the first inning, Kiani Ramsey doubled down the left line and Megan Dray drew a walk to set up for Pickett's third home run of the season.
» The Tar Heels extended their lead to seven on four hits in the second. Abby Settlemyre, Destiny DeBerry and Leah Murray each singled and recorded a stolen base in the inning. Hutcherson groundout scored Settlemyre before Murray scored DeBerry and Burkhardt cleared the bases with her third homer this year.
» Murray snagged a line drive and caught the runner tagging up at first for a double play.
