Syracuse Tops Carolina

Paris Kea scored 27 points to lead North Carolina (13-12, 2-10 Atlantic Coast Conference). Jamie Cherry had 17, while Stephanie Watts had 10 rebounds and seven points.
Sykes scored a career-high 34 points, while Peterson added 27.
Carolina's mini 6-1 run in the third quarter cut its deficit to 44-32, but the Orange responded with the next eight points and would lead by as many as 28, 74-46, in the final moments of the period.
After seven lead changes in the first 4:55, a 20-4 run that took place in parts of the first and second quarter saw Syracuse establish a firm grip on the game with a 27-12 lead.
Syracuse (18-8, 9-4) leads the ACC in steals and used six takeaways to score 11 points in the first half. A jumper from Gabby Cooper off a Tar Heel turnover helped the Orange to a 43-26 lead at intermission.
Cherry led Carolina with nine points in the first half.
North Carolina returns home to take on Georgia Tech on Thursday at 7 p.m.
