SERIES HISTORY
North Carolina maintains a tight grip on the all-time series with a 62-13 edge over Wake Forest. UNC had its 13-game winning streak against Wake Forest snapped last season in Winston-Salem. Carolina has won the last 19 meetings with the Demon Deacons in Chapel Hill, with the last Wake win coming in 1990-91. You also have to go all the way back to that same season since the Deacs won two in a row over the Tar Heels.
LAST MEETING
Despite another terrific effort from Stephanie Watts, North Carolina lost 75-63 at Wake Forest on Thursday, Jan. 21 from the Lawrence Joel Coliseum. Watts registered a double-double with 24 points and 13 rebounds before fouling out with 1:16 left in the fourth quarter. Jamie Cherry added 18 for the Tar Heels.
Elisa Penna was instrumental in Wake Forest picking up its first ACC win with 18 points, while Ariel Stephenson had 16 points. Ataijah Taylor notched 13 for the Demon Deacons. Wake Forest led by double figures throughout the second half, leading by as many as 18, 56-38, in the final minute of the third quarter. Carolina whittled its deficit down to 10 on two occasions in the final 1:44 of regulation.
LAST TIME OUT
Kauai Bradley scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Pitt won 68-48 over North Carolina on Sunday afternoon from Petersen Events Center. Jamie Cherry scored 13 points to lead North Carolina.
Pitt used a 17-2 run spanning the end of the first quarter and the beginning of the second to turn a competitive game into a one-sided affair. The Tar Heels went 9:04 between field goals as their 8-7 lead turned into a 24-10 deficit. Carolina dug deep in the third quarter. Cherry led the response with six points. and a 14-5 run got the Tar Heels within 10, 40-30. But Pitt answered the bell by scoring 13 of the final 16 points in the period to regain its footing with a 53-33 advantage going to the last stanza.

• UNC ranks 5th in the ACC in free throw shooting at 70.7 percent. Jaime Cherry (81.4) and Paris Kea (78.6) are the top charity stripe shooter for the Tar Heels.
