Litynski Earns All-ACC Academic Honor
April 30, 2015 | Fencing, Academics
UNC senior Gillian Litynski added one more honor to a stellar resumé Thursday when she was named to the 2015 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Women's Fencing Team, announced by the league. The honor takes into account both academic and athletic performance.
Litynski, from Niskayuna, N.Y., was the 2015 ACC Fencer of the Year for women's sabre and the ACC Champion in her weapon. She also earned All-America honors and was the recipient of an ACC Weaver-James-Corrigan Postgraduate Scholarship. She is a nursing/global studies double major and will continue her studies at the UNC School of Nursing, working toward a Ph.D.
As this was the first year of ACC women's fencing competition, the 2015 All-ACC Academic squad is the inaugural one for the sport.
To be eligible for consideration for an All-ACC Academic team, a student-athlete, regardless of class year, must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
