CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - North Carolina took both games in a doubleheader with Virginia on Saturday, shutting out the Cavaliers 7-0 in game one before take a 3-1 win in game two.
Lori Spingola recorded her fourth complete game shut out of the year, while Jenna Kelly belted a grand slam and had five RBIS for the day, and Amber Parrish hit two homers with three RBIs to help Carolina improve to 20-16 and 11-5 in ACC play.
"I thought we put two good wins together today," head coach Donna J. Papa said. "We went out and hit the ball really well in the first game. Jenna Kelly, Amber Parrish and Amy Nece were all outstanding at the plate for us, and Tracy Chandless and Erin Satterfield were both excellent for us defensively and made a lot of good saves for us. All three of our pitchers also did a fantastic job today."
"It definitely feels good to put to good wins together in the conference. We know we have a battle tomorrow, and that we have come out and compete even harder than we did today. I'm really proud of what the girls did today, both at the plate and out in the field," Papa said.

Amy Nece started things off for the Tar Heels with a triple down the right field line, and a single to left by Jenna Kelly knocked Nece in to put UNC on the board, 1-0.
In the second, Kendra Lynch drew a walk and then advanced to third on Tracy Chandless's single through the right side. Erin Satterfield then hit a sacrifice fly to score Lynch and give the Tar Heels a two run lead.
Carolina had bases loaded in the fifth when Kelly launched a grand slam out right center, her 10th homer of the year, to clear the bases. Amber Parrish then followed with a solo shot out left center to make it 7-0 after five.
