CHAPEL HILL - No. 22 North Carolina won eight of nine matches played Thursday afternoon in a 6-1 victory against Navy.
The Tar Heels improve to 7-2 with the win and remain undefeated at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center in 2010.
UNC head coach Sam Paul made a couple of adjustments to his regular lineup for the match against the Midshipmen, giving Dominican Republic native Jose Hernandez a chance to play at the top singles flight and moving fellow freshman Ryan Noble to the third spot. The two responded emphatically with 6-3, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-0 wins, respectively. Stefan Hardy also shifted up to No. 2 singles, where he cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 victory.
In doubles, the No. 2 pairing of Andrew Crone and Jose Hernandez and the No. 3 team of Cameron Ahari and Alex Rafiee both recorded 8-1 wins to clinch to the team doubles point.
UNC heads to Richmond, Va. on Sunday to play No. 60 VCU. The match begins at 5:00 p.m.
