On scoring more lately:
"I've kind of made it a point to have more of an offensive impact. That was one of my goals coming into the season. This year, with how young we are, I just kind of wanted to be able to step up and have an impact offensively."
On difference in role this year as opposed to last year:
"I just have a better grasp of the position. And obviously I have a great defense behind me. I know that Ranee [Premji] will cover for me if I go up top. So I'm just more comfortable."
Head Coach: Anson Dorrance
On beginning the game in a 3-5-2 formation and switching back to Carolina's traditional 3-4-3:
"We had Kealia [Ohai] in the midfield and she's an extraordinary player and that's not a player you want to keep far from goal. We decided to make the change in order to get Kealia up top and sure enough, it paid dividends almost immediately."
On playing three different goalkeepers during the game:
"Just to play them all. We were in a position where we could afford to play the entire roster. Adelaide Gay is a very good goalkeeper for us. Right now she is the backup for us because [Anna] Seiloff broke her finger. So we need to make sure that Ade gets some time so that if something happens to Hannah [Daly], we have a goalkeeper on goal with some experience for us."
Kealia Ohai
On staying motivated and aggressive with a five-goal lead:
"Every time we play Miami, it has been a really tough game and they've beaten us a lot of times. So we knew we just had to come out and play intense the whole game. And even at the end when we were up five goals, [Miami] was still attacking, so we just had to keep our intensity up the entire game."
On first goal of the game off assist from GK Hannah Daly:
"Hannah's amazing. Her kick was so far, and I don't know, I just saw my player, and shot it."
Rachel Wood
On intensity level and competitiveness throughout match:
"I think we all came out and brought it today. We've had a lot of 1-0 games, scoring in the second half, and I think we all wanted to come out and play really tough against a combative Miami team. I know the defense wanted to hold them to a shutout, so we had a really successful game."
On dominant play by the defense of late:
"Having Rachel Givan back for these past three or four games, even though she's out now, she really brought a lot of experience to the back line and really taught us how to play the system and communicate. So we really learned from Rachel, and from that we've learned to play the system, play the shape, and just to really trust the shape."
