COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Clay Donato and Taylor Fogleman overcame a bad first set on Thursday afternoon to advance in the individual doubles portion of the NCAA Championships.
UNC's pair beat Radford's duo of Martin Sayer and Zachary Watson 4-6, 6-2, 6-1.
With the victory, Fogleman now has 98 career doubles victories. He will try for his 99th Friday against Kiryl Harbatsiuk and Anton Stryhas of Sacramento State, who upset the overall No. 3 seed in the tournament on Thursday.
It also marks the second straight year that Fogleman has reached the round of 16 in the doubles tournament. If North Carolina's pair wins on Friday, Fogleman will have reached the quarterfinals of the tournament for two straight seasons.
In singles play, the tournament's overall No. 6 seed beat Donato in straight sets to end his tournament run. The junior finishes the season with a 26-10 singles mark in 2008-09.
