Carolina Notches Second Victory of Day Against JMU

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina's 20th-ranked men's tennis team recorded a win in the nightcap of their season-opening doubleheader.
The Tar Heels followed their 5-2 win over Charlotte with a 7-0 shutout of James Madison in the evening match.
Clay Donato and Taylor Fogleman notched their second 8-0 victory of the day to kick off play in doubles. Andrew Crone and Zach Hunter did the same, as their second 8-3 win delivered a 1-0 lead to the Tar Heels.
Brennan Boyajian opened up singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Ville Maaranen, making him 2-0 in his first two dual matches as a Tar Heel. Donato followed with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Mike Smith, putting the Tar Heels a point away from clinching the win. Andrew Crone proceeded put the match away, dropping only four games in a straight sets win over Tommi Nissinen. With the victory in hand at 4-0, Cameron Ahari, Taylor Fogleman and Luke Mojica finished their matches out well, each recording a win to complete a 7-0 blanking of James Madison.
The Tar Heels will take a day off before they hit the courts again for another doubleheader on Tuesday, Jan. 27. Both matches will be at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. The match against Campbell will start at 3:00 p.m., followed by North Carolina Central at 7:30 p.m.
