Clemson, S.C. - Carolina and Clemson battled for nearly five hours in temperatures better than 75 degrees Sunday, with the Tigers edging the Tar Heels 4-3. The match came down to number one singles as Raian Luchici and Nathan Thompson battled into the third set with the match tied at 3-3. Thompson defeated Luchici 7-2 in the third set tiebreak to clinch the win for the Tigers.
Carolina's last two ACC matches have been decided by 4-3 scores. This was also the second straight match in which Luchici's match was decided by a third set tiebreak. Carolina continues its spring break road trip Wednesday at 20th ranked Auburn.
