Carolina Men's Tennis Completes Opening Day With 7-0 Victory Over North Carolina A&T

Chapel Hill, N.C. - The University of North Carolina's 18th-ranked men's tennis team completed the second half of its season opening double header with a 7-0 sweep of the North Carolina A&T Aggies. Carolina defeated Davidson by an identical score on Satudray early Saturday afternoon. Both matches were played at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center's indoor courts.
Carolina lost only one game in the top three singles matches. Juniors Raian Luchici and Derek Porter both were triumphant by 6-0, 6-0 scores. Raleigh, N.C. native and Broughton High School product Will Plyler won the first dual match of his singles career 6-2, 6-3 over Jerome Kirkland at the No. 5 spot.
Carolina's other singles wins came from junior Brad Pomeroy at No. 1, freshman Benjamin Carlotti at No. 4 and sophomore Sebastian Guejman at No. 6. Like Plyler, Guejman garnered his first ever win in a dual match for the Tar Heels.
Carolina hits the road next weekend to play No. 34 Notre Dame and No. 40 Northwestern next Saturday and Sunday in Notre Dame, Ind. and Evanston Ill.
