State outfielder dropped the ball.
In game two, N.C. State again struck first. They scored a run in the third and fourth innings to make the score 2-0. UNC's Alison Yin pitched scoreless ball the rest of the way for the Tar Heels but N.C. State's Shaina Ervin pitched a no-hitter threw six innings to keep the score at 2-0.
In the bottom of the seventh, UNC finally got their bats in gear, as pich-hitter Marissa May sparked the team with a lead-off double to left field. Jessica Young advanced May to third on a ground out and then Emily Price ran out an infield single that scored May to close the gap to one run.

In the top of the eighth inning, N.C. State's Renee LaCroix led off with a single and then advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. With one out in the inning, State's Heather Gelbard singled up the middle.
