Gymnasts Win Regular Season Finale Over James Madison

HARRISONBURG, Va.--The University of North Carolina gymnastics team won its last regular season meet against James Madison University by a score of 193.750-191.025. UNC is currently ranked No. 21 in the nation.

Sophomore Anna Wilson won the all-around with a score of 38.825. Wilson claimed first place on floor with a score of 9.925 and second place on bars with a 9.750.

Carolina swept the top five spots on vault. UNC was led by senior Monica Middleton and freshman Olivia Trusty who tied for first place with a score of 9.850. Middleton's score of 9.850 is a personal best. Junior Fritzie Cathcart and freshman Amy Williams tied for third place with 9.825. Wilson scored a 9.800 to finish in fifth place.

Trusty scored a 9.775 to place first on bars. Sophomore Maddy Curley claimed fourth place with a score of 9.650. Cathcart and freshman Elisabeth Alsop tied for fifth place with a 9.400.

Curley was the lone Tar Heel to finish in the top five on beam. Curley placed second with a score of 9.825 and junior Natalie Halbach finished sixth with a 9.625.

Trusty claimed second place, behind fellow Tar Heel Wilson, on floor with a 9.900.

Carolina will head into post-season competition when they travel to Towson University on March 23rd for the East Atlantic Gymnastics League Championships. The meet will be held at the Towson Center in Towson, Md. at 6 p.m.
