
Gymnastics Team Falls To Towson

Towson, Md.-- The University of North Carolina gymnastics team fell to Towson Friday night by a score of 193.625-193.150. The Tar Heels were lead by Senior Brooke Wilson who placed first on beam with a score of 9.850.
In addition to placing first on beam, Wilson placed third in the all-around (38.875), bars (9.700) and floor (9.825).
Towson gymnasts Kristen Presutti and Jenn Baierlein finished first (38.975) and second (38.925) respectively in the all-around competition.
Carolina junior Lisa Companioni placed fourth in the all-around. Companioni placed second on vault with a 9.700, tied for fifth on beam (9.725) and finished sixth on floor (9.725).
Freshman Maddy Curley and Monica Middleton finished fifth and sixth respectively in the all-around. Curley placed fourth on bars (9.625) and was tied for third on beam (9.750). Middleton tied with Sophomores Fritzie Cathcart and Natalie Halbach for fifth on vault (9.575). Middleton, Companioni and Halbach tied for fifth on beam with a 9.725.
Carolina (1-1) next travels to Athens, Ga. to compete against Georgia in Stegeman Coliseum on Friday, Jan.26 at 7 p.m. The Tar Heels home opener is Saturday, Feb. 3 when they host the Governor's Cup at 1 p.m. in Carmichael Auditorium.
