Notes from Carolina's 67-45 win over Miami (Fla.) Monday evening at the Smith Center.

Brendan Haywood became the first Carolina player in school history to record a triple-double. Haywood had 18 points, 14 rebounds and career-high 10 blocked shots in UNC's 67-45 win. It was Haywood's 18th career double-double.

Brendan Haywood's 10 blocked shots were a school record. The previous record was held by Warren Martin, who had nine versus Stanford in 1985.

Miami shot .234 (18 of 77) from the field, the lowest field goal percentage by any team in the 15-year history of the Smith Center. It was the lowest field goal percentage by an opponent since Chattanooga shot .217 against the Tar Heels on Dec. 5, 1997 in Charlotte.

Ronald Curry saw his first significant action of the 2000-01 basketball season. Curry, who began practicing with the Tar Heels following the end of the football season two weeks ago, had three points, three rebounds and three assists in 18 minutes of action at point guard.

Kris Lang recorded his fourth career double-double, with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Will Johnson scored a career-high 10 points and matched his career high with five rebounds. He was 2 of 4 from the field, including one three-pointer.

After battling a sprained ankle suffered prior to the season-opener versus Winthrop, Max Owens saw his most extensive playing time of the season with 20 minutes. Owens had five points, five assists and three rebounds.

Brendan Haywood and Kris Lang combined to shoot 15 of 20 (.750) from the field and scored 35 of Carolina's 67 points.

After missing its first seven free throws, Carolina went on to hit 14 of the final 18 attempts.

Joseph Forte, who scored eight points and had a career-high seven assists, was held in single digits in scoring for the first time in 11 games and only the fifth time in his career.

The Tar Heels turned the ball over 29 times against Miami, their most since Feb. 21, 1988 versus Temple. Carolina lost that game 83-66 at the Smith Center.
