Tar Heel Gymnasts Defeat Radford, William & Mary

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The University of North Carolina Gymnastics team dominated William & Mary and Radford to win the tri meet Friday night at Carmichael Auditorium. The Heels finished with a total score of 191.125 while William & Mary finished second with a team total of 184.950. Radford rounded out the group with a 182.600 total.
Carolina sophomore Brooke Wilson continued her all-around dominance claiming her seventh all-around title in as many tries with a final score of 38.225. Wilson claimed second on vault (9.600), first on bars on bars (9.875) and first on floor (9.900). Freshman Lisa Companioni had another solid showing on the balance beam, taking first in the meet with a score of 9.550. Senior Nicole Austin was right behind Companioni on balance beam earning a 9.50 score. Austin's twin sister, Shelley Austin, tied with Wilson on bars to claim a share of first place with a score of 9.850.
William & Mary was led by Brynne Roberts who finished on the floor with a 9.60. Brandee Gound completed the all-around in third place with a 37.025 total.
The Tar Heels travel to the Florida Invitational Friday, March 5 where they will face competitors from around the region.
