CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The North Carolina softball team finished its weekend at the Buzz Classic in Marietta, Ga., with a 4-1 record and is now 25-15 overall. In pool play, the Tar Heels beat Butler (5-1) and Middle Tennessee State (10-0) on Friday and Florida A&M (8-7) and Northeast Louisiana (4-1) on Saturday. In single-elimination bracket play on Sunday, UNC lost 2-0 to Evansville, ending a seven-game winning streak.
Sophomore Radara McHugh pitched all five games of the tournament for Carolina and is now 17-10 for the season.
In the weekend's games, Carolina batters hit four home runs, two by junior Crystal Henderson and one each by sophomore Michelle Semmes and freshman Natalie Anter. The Tar Heels have 16 homers thus far in the season, one short of last year's total.
UNC hosts Campbell for a 2 p.m. double-header this Wednesday and welcomes ACC-rival Virginia to town over the weekend. The Tar Heels and Cavaliers will play one game on Saturday at 1 p.m. and another on Sunday at 2 p.m.
