Yuri Jean-Baptiste joined the UNC Sports Medicine staff as an athletic trainer in 2013. His primary clinical responsibilities involve working with the women's soccer and rowing teams. He previously spent two seasons working as a staff athletic trainer for football (2013-15) and cheerleading (2013-15). During this time, Jean-Baptiste also volunteered to work with the Carolina Railhawks during their 2014-15 season to assist with game day coverage.
Jean-Baptiste is a 2011 graduate of the University of Florida, where he earned his B.S. in Athletic Training. While serving as an athletic training student from 2007-2011, he worked with the UF football team, Santa Fe College, and Santa Fe High School. With Santa Fe, Jean-Baptiste worked with all school sports including baseball, softball, men and women's basketball, men and women's soccer, and track and field. He also completed an NFL summer internship with the Miami Dolphins in 2009.
Upon completing his undergraduate degree, Jean-Baptiste continued his education at Louisiana State University, where he served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer. While at LSU, Jean-Baptiste worked with men and women's track and field, women's soccer, and women's basketball. He received a M.S. in Kinesiology - Sports Pedagogy in 2013.
Jean-Baptiste, a native of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., has been an NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) since 2007 and has been a Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) since 2012. He received his Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) certification in 2015.
Jean-Baptiste is a native of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and currently resides in Cary with his fiancée, Jennifer.
