Joe Anile
- Title:
- Director of Player Personnel
Joe Anile joined the Carolina Football staff as Director of Player Personnel in 2024, following a year as a consultant to head coach Bill Belichick, general manager Michael Lombardi, and senior defensive assistant Matt Patricia of the Philadelphia Eagles. In this role, he provided football analysis for various media presentations, including *Coach with Bill Belichick* (YouTube), multiple podcasts, *The Pat McAfee Show* (ESPN), and *ManningCast* (ESPN2).
Prior to his consulting role, Anile spent two seasons with the New England Patriots, working as both a pro and college scout. He joined the Patriots in 2022 after five seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he began as a scouting assistant in 2017 and was later promoted to scouting associate and then pro scout in 2021.
During his tenure in Jacksonville, Anile was involved in numerous aspects of player evaluation and team operations, including organizing free agent workouts, preparing for free agency, conducting advance scouting, managing the waiver wire, assisting the wide receivers coach during practices, and evaluating talent across the NFL and other professional leagues.
At New England, Anile contributed to the maintenance of free agency, draft, and roster boards, while overseeing scouting reports and responsibilities for up to seven NFL rosters across preseason, advance scouting, free agency, and annual reporting. His advance scouting work included roster presentations, in-game tendencies, signal breakdowns for the coaching staff, trade deadline research, daily waiver wire management, and salary cap analysis related to potential “cap casualties.” He also contributed spring crosscheck reports on college prospects ahead of the NFL Draft.
A 2017 graduate of Colby College (Waterville, Maine), Anile earned a bachelor’s degree in economics. He was a multi-sport athlete, serving as quarterback for the Colby football team and playing defense on the lacrosse team. He also won a national championship with the Long Island Royals AAA U16 hockey team.
Anile is the nephew of the late Dom Anile, a legendary college football coach and longtime NFL personnel executive who worked with Lombardi, Belichick, and Nick Saban during his tenure with the Cleveland Browns from 1983 to 1994.
