During his tenure working with the tight ends, the unit has had elite production. UNC is one of five Power Four programs over the past three years with 70+ receptions, 2,000+ receiving yards and 18+ receiving touchdowns by tight ends.
In 2023, Carolina's tight ends were one of two Power Four programs to rank in the top three nationally in receiving yards, receptions and touchdowns. Pickrell joined Carolina Football as the assistant offensive line coach in 2022, after serving in the same role at the University of Central Florida (UCF).
Prior to UCF, Pickrell spent seven seasons coaching high school football in both Texas and Florida. While in Florida, Pickrell was the offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator at Lakeland High School. He helped lead the Dreadnaughts to a 7A State Championship, as well as a top-10 national ranking.
