General: A three-time returning letter winner...strong contributor for the Tar Heels in the butterfly and distance freestyle...two-time Dean’s List selection at UNC...member of Spanish Honor Society...participated in Costa Rica Study Abroad program in Quepo, Costa Rica last summer.

1999-2000: At the 2000 ACC Championships, swam personal bests in the 100 fly (51.64) and 500 free (4:38.94).

1998-99: Earned his second letter as a Tar Heel…at the 1999 ACC Championships, he competed as a non-scoring participant…solid swimmer for Carolina in the butterfly events.

1997-98: Swam as a non-scoring participant in the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships...provided outstanding depth for the Tar Heels in the fly and IM...was one of the team's most improved swimmers.

Prep: A 1997 alumnus of Leesville Road High School...was a four-year member of the swimming team there...swam the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard individual medley for his high school team...captained the squad at Leesville Road his junior and senior years...also ran cross country his freshman year...member of National Honor Society and Key Club...was a North Carolina Scholar and was named to the 1997-98 U.S. Swimming Scholastic All-America Team.

Personal: Given name is Taylor Calvin Marks...nicknamed "Cooter"...has one brother...was born May 25, 1979 in Richmond, Va....son of Bill and Peggy Jo Marks...hobbies include making Matt Baldwin mad, hiding Matt Baldwin's guitar, annoying Mark Seidman and playing in house ping pong tournaments...also enjoys skiing, biking, wrestling and listening to Spanish music...athlete he most admires is Mark Seidman...biggest sports thrill was watching teammate Mark Seidman place third in the 400 IM at the Nike Cup during their sophomore year...despite being a great swimmer now, he admits to the fact that he almost drowned when he was a youngster...admits to the facts that he talks too much...claims a love of cheese toast...has a brother who recently graduated from Furman University where he played on the soccer team...public policy analysis and Spanish double major...would like to pursue a career as an investment banker..also yearns to be famous.
