General: Will be taking a medical red-shirt during the coming season...one of the Tar Heels’ top butterflyers...a valuable three-time letter winner…a strong performer in the IM as well…hails from Charlotte, N.C. but went to prep school in Pennsylvania.
2000-2001: Placed 12th in the 200 IM at the 2001 ACC Championships...was eighth in the 100 fly and 16th in the 200 fly...swam the butterfly leg on the 400 medley relay which finished third.
1999-2000: At the 2000 ACC Championships, he finished eighth in the 100 fly (49.05 prelim), the fifth-best performance ever for a Tar Heel…an outstanding relay swimmer for UNC…was a member of UNC’s 200 medley relay and 400 medley relays that finished fifth at ACC’s. 1998-99: At the 1999 ACC Championships, he finished 10th in the 200-yard butterfly and 11th in the 100-yard butterfly.
Prep: A June 6, 1998 graduate of Mercersburg Academy in Mercersburg, Pa....four-year member of the swim team...swam the 100-yard and 200-yard butterfly events, 200-yard and 400-yard individual medley events and the 100-yard breaststroke...team captain his senior year...his high school team was ranked ninth nationally his senior year...team finished second at Eastern Championships his final season...brought with him from high school some of the top times on the Carolina team in the butterfly events.
Personal: Given name is Sebastien Lewis Moity...goes by "Seb"...nicknames include "Sebby", "Gary" and "Boots"...born April 7, 1980 in Teaneck, N.J....son of Thierry and Patricia Moity...hobbies include cycling and competing in triathlons...athletes he most admires are Pablo Morales, Sean Palmer and Mike Chorba...biggest sports thrills include winning the high point trophy at the Junior Olympic meet and being ranked in the top16 nationally from 1993-98 in the 100 and 200 butterflys in his age group...majors in communications at Carolina...wants to be an orthopaedic surgeon.
