General:
Co-captain of the 2003-04 Tar Heels...three-year letterman for Coach Frank Comfort’s team...was a great addition for the Tar Heels in the sprint freestyle events three years ago and continued to contribute the last two seasons…can help Carolina in relays as well...swam in summer 2002 in the U.S. Nationals on relays…swam for Bull City Aquatics under coach Dustin McDaniels...outstanding in the classroom.
2002-03:
Competed in the 2003 ACC Championships as an exhibition swimmer in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyles.
2001-02:
Swam for the Tar Heels in the ACC meet where he was 19th in the 200 free and 22nd in both the 50 free and 100 free. Summer 2001: Competed at the U.S.S. Southern Sectional where he took 16th in the 50 free, 17th in the 100 free and 20th in the 100 breast.
2000-2001:
Performed admirably as a freshman in the time trials at the ACC Championships...was a non-scoring member of UNC’s squad at the conference championships...named to the Dean’s List in the spring semester of 2001...tapped for 2001 ACC Academic Honor Roll.
Prep:
Graduated on June 9, 1999 from Jordan High School…was a state champion 12 times in various events throughout high school.
Personal:
Given name is Daniel Carl Vick...has been given the nickname “Silent Bob”…was born December 18, 1980 in Durham, N.C.…is the son of Dennis Vick…his father played baseball at East Carolina in the 1960’s…has one brother, who played soccer at Appalachian State University from 1996-99…athletes he most admires are his brother Will and his father Dennis…says his biggest sports thrill was making his first junior cut because he had no idea that he could do it…majors in anthropology...wants to be a writer.
