General: Talented three-time letter winner who specializes in the sprints...equaled the UNC school record (20.06) at the 2000 Nike Cup...that was a 10-year old school record when he equaled it…qualified for the 1999 NCAA Championships as a relay swimmer...backbone of the sprint freestyle corps...is a vital performer on the Carolina sprint relays.
2000-2001: He was the 2000 Nike Cup champion in the 50 free (20.06)...was also a member of UNC’s Nike Cup champion 200 and 400 medley relays…at the 2001 ACC Championships, he finished fourth in the 50 free, 12th in the 100 breaststroke and was a member of the Carolina 400 medley relay that finished third (anchor leg), the 200 free relay which finished third (leadoff leg) and the 400 free relay that finished fourth (leadoff leg)…was a Dean’s List student during the spring semester…also named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll.
1999-2000: At the 2000 ACC Championships, he garnered All-ACC honors with his tie for second in the 50 free (20.17)...he also finished eighth in the 100 free (45.23 prelim time) and ninth in the 100 breast (55.42)...was a key member of UNC’s 200 free relay which finished third, the 400 free relay which finished fifth, the 200 medley relay which finished fifth and the 400 medley relay which finished fifth…his time in the 50 free tied for the third-best performance ever for UNC...he also posted the fifth-best time ever for a Tar Heel in the 100 breast.
1998-99: Member of 1998 Nike Cup champion 200-yard freestyle relay team, 200-yard medley relay team and 400-yard freestyle relay team...at the 1999 ACC Championships, he tied for sixth in the 50-yard freestyle and was also a member of the 200 free relay and 200 medley relay, both of which finished third.
Prep: Was the #2-ranked 50-yard freestyler in the nation coming out of high school as a senior in 1998...ranked #1 in the nation in the 50-yard freestyle for 17-18 year old age group...Georgia state record holder for the 50-yard freestyle in the 17-18 age group...graduated in June 1998 from Evans High School in Evans, Ga....swam for four years and played baseball for two years there...was swim team captain his senior year...was a two-time MVP for his high school swimming team...holds the Georgia high school state record in the 50- and 100-yard freestyles...junior national finalist in the 50 and 100 freestyle events, both short course and long course...senior national qualifier as well...three-time state champion in the 50-yard and 50-meter freestyles...ranked nationally in the top 16 for three consecutive years in the sprint freestyle events...member of the first Georgia Zone Championship Team in 1992...is the Georgia record holder in the 400-meter freestyle for the 11-12 age group...was a member of the student council and Future Business Leaders of America at Evans High.
