2018 (Sophomore): Appeared in 17 games before suffering a season ending injury • Scored seven runs as a pinch runner and went 3-for-4 in stolen bases • Had one at-bat at Charlotte (3/7).
2017 (Freshman): Appeared in 49 games as a freshman, making 18 starts • Played 18 games in the outfield, while also seeing significant action as a pinch runner and pinch hitter • Batted .204 with 10 hits, two doubles, five walks, four RBIs and 23 runs scored in 49 at-bats • Went 10-for-13 in stolen bases, one of the record five Tar Heels with double-digit swipes, to help UNC break the single-season SB record • Tied for eighth all time among UNC freshmen with 10 stolen bases and 10th with a .769 stolen base percentage • Started in left field against UMass Lowell (3/11) and singled in her first at-bat • Hit safely in each of her first five starts with 10 hits over her first 13 games in the offensive lineup • Hit a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the fifth to lead UNC to a 1-0 win over USC Upstate.
Prep: Five-year varsity starting center fielder for Warwick Valley High School • Led the Wildcats to a Class AA Section 9 Runner-Up finish in 2014 after a trip to the Section 9 Semifinals in 2013 • Three-time New York Class AA All-State (2014, 2015, 2016) • Three-time Section 9 First-Team All-Conference (2014, 2015, 2016) • Led the conference in stolen bases for three straight seasons, totaling 90 career steals • Hit .429 as a senior and .440 as a junior • Took home Warwick Valley’s Most Dedicated Female Athlete and Best Female Athlete awards as a senior • Played travel ball for the Frozen Ropes Force Gold • Four-time Warwick Valley High School Softball Scholar Athlete of the Year • Ranked No. 8 in her class (academically) • Member of the National Honors Society (2014-16), Mu Alpha Theta Math Honors Society (2014-16) and Leadership Academy (2015-16).
Personal: Born Micaela Abbatine on March 6 • Daughter of Tony and Tammy Abbatine • Has a younger brother, Anthony • Both parents played collegiate sports, as mother Tammy was a member of the LIU Brooklyn softball and gymnastics teams (1979-83) and father Tony played baseball at the University of Buffalo • Majoring in Business.
