Vera Sjöberg Earns CSC First Team Academic All-America Acclaim

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Shining on the track and in the classroom, North Carolina track & field's Vera Sjöberg has been honored with First Team Academic All-America acclaim by the College Sports Communicators organization.
Making plenty of noise in her lone season at Carolina, Sjöberg shattered the 22-year-old women's indoor 3000m school record with a time of 8:43.06 and earned ACC Women's Track Athlete of the Week acclaim following her feat. During indoor season, she also earned All-ACC honors in the women's 3000m and the mile at the ACC Championships.
During the outdoor season, she ran the second-fastest 5000m in program history and was a member of the NCAA record-breaking distance medley relay squad at the Penn Relays. Setting a program record in the 10000m at the ACC Championships, Sjöberg took home a bronze medal. At the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Sjöberg placed 14th in the 5000m to earn Second Team All-America honors.
The Stockholm, Sweden, native boasted a 3.97 GPA while working toward her master's in applied professional studies.
