Softball Falls To No. 19 Stanford, 9-2

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Softball fell at the hands of No. 19 Stanford on Friday night by a score of 9-2.

Stanford did their damage early, plating six runs in the first two innings.
Â
MC Eaton and Rayna Blackwell scored the two UNC runs on a fielder's choice and a home run to left field.
Â
Blackwell's home run marked the 25th straight game with a home run for Carolina, the longest such streak in program history and the longest active streak in the country.
Â
Jil Livengood was a bright spot for the Tar Heels, throwing 4.1 scoreless innings with a strikeout. She was able to give the UNC offense a chance to climb back into the game but the Stanford pitchers proved to be too much tonight, striking out the Tar Heels eight times on the night.

UNC has a chance to bounce back and even the series tomorrow at 1 PM on ACCNX.
