Parrish Throws No-Hitter To Give SB Best Start In Program History

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - On a Thursday night in Anderson Stadium, Lilly Parrish was dominant. She threw the 59th no-hitter in program history, clinching the best start in program history as Carolina improves to 11-0 with a 10-0 victory over North Carolina Central University in the second game of the doubleheader. It marks the first of her career.
Parrish's stuff was electric all night, fanning a career-high nine batters over five innings. This was the fifth no-hitter under coach Smith-Lyon. Parrish notched her second straight complete-game shutout.
First Game of the Double Header:
The 13-0 victory in game one marked the fifth consecutive shutout.
Like clockwork, Carolina scored first, as they opened up with a five-run first inning, which was the ninth game in which the Tar Heels scored first.
The third inning featured three home runs, two of which came off the bat of Emily LeGette, including a grand slam. It was the first multi-homer game of her career. The two home runs pushed her season total to five, which is the most that she has had in a single season.
Kenna Raye Dark continued to shine as she earned her third win of the season, pitching four scoreless innings and giving up just one hit. Dark also struck out four batters on only 44 pitches. Jil Livengood closed out the game with two strikeouts.

Second Game of the Double Header:
The offense exploded behind the no-hitter giving softball its seventh game of the season with at least ten runs.
For the seventh game in a row, Carolina's offense scored first behind the bat of Shelby Barbee who drove in the first run. MC Eaton hit her 20th career homerun which sent home three runners.
Thompson continued her hot streak as she registered a hit in every single game that the Tar Heels have played this season as she plated the only run in the second innings.

Regan Jennings hit her third home run of the season surpassing her career total from her previous two years at Texas Tech combined. Lexie Roberts reached on a field error to send Kiannah Pierce home for the tenth and final run of the night.
In the fourth inning, Thompson went full extension in deep center field to preserve Parrish's no-hitter. Once the inning ended, Parrish greeted her with a massive hug before entering the dugout.
