NEW YORK—Fourth-seeded Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens defeated the University of North Carolina's Reese Brantmeier and Alanis Hamilton, 6-3, 6-1 on Saturday afternoon in the second round of the 2025 US Open.
Brantmeier, a senior, and Hamilton, a sophomore, won their first-round match on Thursday to advance to Saturday's match.
Against Kudermetova and Mertens, the UNC duo put up a stiff fight in the early going of the first set, tying the score at 2-2 after four games.
