Women’s Basketball To Take On South Carolina In Atlanta Preseason Exhibition
July 29, 2025 | Women's Basketball
ATLANTA – Meeting again and for the first time since 2024, North Carolina women's basketball will face off against South Carolina in a preseason exhibition game in Atlanta on Thursday, Oct. 30 from State Farm Arena.
The Tar Heels face a preseason tune-up in the Gamecocks, who are coming off a run to the 2025 national championship game. The two programs last met in the second round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament in Columbia. In neutral site regular season games, North Carolina holds a slight 7-6 advantage in the series.
Coming off its best season in the Courtney Banghart era with 29 wins and its 19th Sweet 16 appearance, the Tar Heels bring back 10 from last year's squad, including second-team All-ACC honoree Reniya Kelly and ACC-All Freshman Team member Lanie Grant.
The Tar Heels welcomed four new additions this off-season, including two transfers and two incoming freshmen. Hitting the portal, Banghart and Co. brought in reinforcements with Elina Aarnisalo from UCLA and Nyla Harris from Louisville. Youth looks to make an immediate impact with McDonald's All-American Nyla Brooks and five-star recruit in Taliyah Henderson.
Time and television designation for the October exhibition will be announced at a later date. Tickets for the exhibition will go on-sale through Ticketmaster on August 8 at 10 a.m. ET.
