April 24, 2025 | Women's Tennis
CHAPEL HILL, N.C.—Led by ACC Player of the Year and first-team choice Reese Brantmeier, six North Carolina women's tennis players were named to the 2024-25 All-ACC teams, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced on Thursday.
Tatum Evans and Theadora Rabman earned second-team honors in singles. Brantmeier and Alanis Hamilton earned first-team All-ACC honors in doubles, while Carson Tanguilig and Susanna Maltby made the doubles third team.
Brantmeier, a junior, was named the ACC Player of the Year, completing an impressive comeback after missing the 2024 Spring and Fall due to a knee injury. She also earned first-team All-ACC honors in singles for the third time and earned ACC Championship Most Valuable Player honors last weekend after leading the Tar Heels to their second consecutive conference title. She is 16-1 in singles this season and 21-2 in doubles when teaming with Hamilton.
Evans earned her first All-ACC accolades in her sophomore season, entering the NCAA Tournament with an 18-7 singles mark and a 15-5 doubles record with Rabman. Evans went undefeated in ACC singles play at 7-0 and is currently ranked #60 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association singles rankings.
Rabman also earned all-conference and All-America honors for the first time as a sophomore. She has posted a 12-4 record in dual singles matches and is 20-6 overall. She's currently ranked #23 in singles by the ITA.
Tanguilig is now a six-time All-ACC pick as well as a five-time All-America. In the fall, she became the first Tar Heel women's player to qualify for the NCAA Championship in both singles and doubles four times. She leads UNC with 28 singles wins this season entering NCAA play and ranks in the top 10 in program history in both career singles and doubles victories.
Hamilton and Maltby both have turned in stellar seasons as freshmen. Hamilton and Brantmeier are the nation's second-ranked doubles duo with a 21-2 record in dual matches. The pair went 9-1 in ACC regular season duals and 17-2 at the No. 1 doubles position in the lineup. Hamilton also went 14-6 in singles, including 6-2 in the ACC regular season.
Maltby earned All-America honors with Tanguilig in doubles in the Fall, and the duo has continued to dominate in the Spring. Tanguilig and Maltby are 19-5 overall this season, including 11-4 in dual matches, earning a ranking of #17 in the ITA rankings.
The Tar Heels have this week off for final exams and await word on their NCAA Tournament destination on Monday April 28.
