Softball Falls To Clemson, 4-1
March 14, 2025 | Softball
CLEMSON, S.C. – The Carolina softball team (22-5, 3-1 ACC) suffered its first ACC loss of the season in a 4-1 loss to Clemson (19-8, 2-2 ACC) on Friday night.
Clemson scored two in the first but after that Kenna Raye Dark put up zeros in the second and third inning to keep the Tar Heels within striking distance.
In the fourth the Tigers were able to knock Dark out of the ball game with two more runs making it a 4-0 ball game.
In the fifth, UNC had two runners on for Kat Rodriguez who sent a rocket to the first baseman who made a great play to end the Tar Heel chance.
Lilly Parrish retired all seven batters she faced, going 2.1 scoreless innings to keep it within reach for Carolina.
Rayna Blackwell came up as a pinch hitter in the seventh and went deep on the first pitch she saw to make it a 4-1 game. It was her fourth homer of the season.
That would be all the Tar Heels could push across as they fell 4-1. It was also only the second time UNC has lost when allowing less than five runs.
Carolina is back in action tomorrow looking to even the series. First pitch is at 1 p.m.
